Thenkuzhal murukku, a popular and easy south Indian savory snack prepared using urad dal and rice flour. In South Indian homes, this snack recipe will be made during the Diwali or Deepavali festival season. The recipe is very similar to the traditional murukku or chakli without any spikes in it.
Ingredients
Murukku Flour – 2 cups
Melted Butter – 2 tablespoons
White and Black Sesame Seeds – 1 and 1/2 teaspoons
Asafoetida – 1 tsp
Salt and water – As required
Oil – For deep frying
Preparation Method
Take a few grams of Thenkuzhal Murukku mix, then add white and black sesame, Asafoetida/hing soaked in water, melted butter, and salt.
Gently mix all the ingredients.
Add water and make a non-sticky dough.
Fill the mould with dough.
Use the reverse side of small plates and make the spiral.
Heat oil in medium flame. Drop the spiral. If the spiral comes up slowly on top, the oil is hot enough to fry.
Cook the murukku until it gets golden brown color
Fry both sides
Drain in a paper towel and cool down completely.
