Karuppu Ellu Idli Podi

Ellu Podi – Sesame Seed Lentil Powder for Idli Dosa and Rice / Sadam. Ellu Podi is slightly bitter yet flavourful powder which is prepared by grinding roasted lentils, ellu (sesame /til) spices & herbs. This can be used as side dish for idli, dosa by mixing it with oil.

Ingredients

1/2 cup urad dal
3/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup chana dal
Red chillies – as required
2 nos kashmiri chilli
A sprig curry leaves
1 pinch hing
Salt to taste

It is so easy and simple to make. Just dry roast the sesame seeds, lentils and grind them to a fine powder. Mostly kids love to eat idly/dosa with podi as they are so fond of it and always demand podi for dosa.
